WellChild Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase

Festival Trials Day is the final race day held at Cheltenham Racecourse before The Festival gets underway at the end of March. This means Festival Trials Day is the last chance and a great opportunity for jockeys and trainers to make their final decisions and preparations for the big occasion. Festival Trials Day 2021 is scheduled to take place on Friday the 30th of January. The first race of the day will be The JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle. All eyes will be on the participants throughout every moment of this event, with punters sizing up their favourites and the competition they’ll be facing.

ABOUT THE RACE

JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle, also known as The Finesse Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle, is a grade 2 listed National Hunt hurdle race that covers a distance of 2 miles and 179 yards.

The race is open to 4-year-old horses and consists of 8 hurdles for these young horses to jump.

The JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle is run by Novice hurdlers every January with the winning horses usually going on to race in the Triumph Hurdle at The Cheltenham Festival just a few months later.

Since the first time this race was featured on the Festival Trials Day race card in 1985, only two horses have managed to win it then go on to win The Festival’s Triumph Hurdle the same year. Maybe 2021 will see the third time this achievement is accomplished?

This year’s JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle is scheduled for 12:40 pm on Friday the 30th of January.
